Belayers Needed

Belayers Needed
I’ve been talking about rocks and climbing for weeks… and now our students are getting ready for the climb. A climber must prepare for climbing a rock… but so must the Belayer. The Achor must be firmly placed in the rock… or we can all figure out what’s going to happen. For the rest of this Winter and Spring, I want to encourage each adult in the congregation to consider how he or she can Belay for our students as they LOCK ON THE ROCK.
You can Belay for our students in many ways. As parents we can help our students prioritize spiritual Rock Climbing highest on the list as well as volunteering to chaperone, teach, coach, or sponsor our students on their climb. More later… but for now, consider if you can belay in one of these areas:
Sponsor—An event sponsor simply encourages students to participate in activities that help them climb. Sponsors help look for and provide opportunities for our students to use their ultimate challenges in this congregation and in our community.
Coach—mentors students here in the congregation as they take on Ultimate challenges. Coaches play an advisory role. Adults and High School students can fulfill this role. Sometimes parents serve as coaches for their children.
Judge — Events at the convention in May need volunteers to Judge and there are some things judged here at Center Road. For the most part, no special expertise is needed, just a willing heart.
We are blessed with a congregation of willing hearts, and many are involved in Rock Climbing already—but there’s room for many more.
There is nothing more important than LOCKING ON THE ROCK, that is locking onto Jesus. We all need encouragement to link to Jesus, link to Christians, and link others to Jesus. Will you be a part of this important effort at Center Road? Look for more information next week.
