Question About Specific Verses for mwLTC This Year

A wonderful volunteer in mwLTC asked a question about the mwLTC theme.

Question:   Could you please tell me the specific verse(s) LTC is based on this year?

My Answer: As to the theme verse, there isn't a single verse for the theme this year - that I have found. Thus I don't have a short answer to the question.  Chapter 24 most uses the word journey but it describes Abraham's servant seeking a wife for Issac. Other than to reference Abraham (and others) travels by faith... but I haven't found one verse that wraps that up.

So, it's a compilation of thought. This is where it's gets a bit long. But I'll take a stab at sharing the thought process that has been helpful to me.

Our lives on earth can aptly be described as a journey. Much of Genesis focuses on Abraham's travels. I think Hebrews 11 brings the idea into focus for us.

  • Understand by faith that the world was created (Genesis and Heb 11:3ff).
  • Abraham honored for his faith and his travels (Genesis and Hebrew 11).
  • Host of others (noah, issac, jacob, joseph, etc.) traveled the road of life in faith.
  • It was their faith that they were commended for (Heb 11:2).
I most focus on Abraham's travels in my mind. He always was a traveler, never settled in a city. All the people, including Abraham, were looking for a city... who's architect and builder is God...

So should we be.

Another Possibility:

I have recently encountered 3 classes online that Rich Atchley taught the past few weeks entitled "STORY" on Itunes. STORY is a survey of the Bible, but the first 3 classes are on Genesis.  I found the outline helpful.
