f A ith

One of the easiest ways to damage our testimony is to let the A in faith stand for "anxiety" instead of "action." There's nothing quite like boldly claiming Christ and his resurrection power while fretting about the latest news.

I'm following up with an acrostic for the word "faith" that I shared in a recent message. F stands for "remember the foundations". A stands for ACTION.  Faith conveys not only a mental state, but it calls for action. The word faith fits comfortably with a belief only idea but James 2 tells us that even the demons believe, and that our faith is shown in our actions. Interestingly enough, in the same chapter in James we find these words:
What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?  In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead (James 2:14-17).
Nice words?  Not really. The spirit of the text suggests that to see something that needs to be done - or someone one in need - for us to ignore it - no matter how pretty or pleasing the words we wrap around it - that it represents a faith that is dead. It's not really a very nice thought. When something needs to be done - do it! Do it for God. Take  Action.  Faith has to do with action and the why of the action. This is one reason our kid's ministry is going to WALK A MILE IN MY SHOES on February 11.

Should one of our children approach you to ask if you want to help them walk a mile, why not TAKE ACTION and hand them a piece of money? They are helping and learning that we can help women and children in need in Kokomo. It's just part of what we are learning on our Journey of Faith with mwLTC.

It's challenging... and it's life changing. God's so cool!
