It is our annual tradition to partner with the MHA of Howard County to provide Thanksgiving Dinner it's members. This is an exciting opportunity to serve our community - and a real treat to our guests. Plans are under way. We have collected a lot of food and supplies, but we have a little distance to go.
Update below... and complete info here.
Special thanks to our congregation and to those who care for the Youth Pantry - for helping us so far. Here is what we have on hand, and what we need so far.
MEAT & INCIDENTALS
Last year we had 120 lbs of Turkey and eight 8 lb hams to serve. Much of that came from a special government grant for the MHA - which is not available this year. So far, we have 70 lbs of Turkey. In addition, we purchase baking bags for the turkeys, butter, milk for food prep, etc.
We are accepting donations for purchasing additional meat for the dinner.
SIDE ITEMS ON HAND
190 servings of green beans (need 60 more).
60 serving of corn from MHA (a new item we are offering - could use more).
66 Servings of Stove Top Chicken Stuffing (we need 190 more)
270 Servings of Potatoes (need is met)
ROLLS
MHA is trying to secure rolls from a local grocery - but this is uncertain. We would like to have at a minimum 1.5 rolls per person, which is 375 rolls, or 31 dozen.
PIES & PLATES
The MHA is purchasing 200 plates and enough pies to serve our guests.
