I think this is really the message of the Scripture. Look at the great men of Faith... and that's what they were called to do. It is their great "hall of faith" moments. When Abram pulled up roots to an unknown destination just cause God said to. Moses hesitantly standing before the most powerful man in the world making demands with a magic staff. David refusing to take out his king, even though Saul tried to kill him multiple times.
We are called upon to be aliens and strangers - but it doesn't fit us really well. "Does being an alien and stranger make me look fat"? It's not something we try on when our Christian buddies are around and we take off when they aren't.
Our economy is changing so quickly - but one fact is emerging.... whatever you call it -- the Service Economy, Green Economy, or World Economy will mean that we work harder to make less money. That's coming to bear down on us. We'll be carrying those laptops with us everywhere. So Christians, where are we with that? Are we focused on Him and what he has done? More is caught than taught, so what are we teaching our kids?
After much ado, Job came to say, "I'm convinced: You can do anything and everything. Nothing and no one can upset your plans." Indeed, God is worthy of our trust.
Does He have it?
