Mostly what I said in the video...
I think that one of the most under appreciated group of people I know are teachers. They are the do all, blamed all, you must fix it all - and "we know you can teach, but what else can you do" group of people I have ever met. Probably most overlooked in that group are the brave and enduring souls who teach Sunday school at church. And yet, probably no one more important in the work of the church in 2010! This song says a lot in just a few words.
We are blessed at Center Road with a group of people who love kids and seek to make the world a different place for the children's eyes. I've been asked to work with our children's ministry. We believe there is a great need to help our children develop friendship connections. At one time we focused on that when they entered the youth group age, however, we see a need to do this much younger now. Children who are not close to others in the church likely will not become close in the teen ministry age. They are simply pulled in too many directions. Meeting this challenge cannot be done by one or even a few - our teaching group makes such a difference. At the same time we examine our children's classes, we also will seek to plug in the families of young children into our ministry.
I KNOW that I don't have all the answers or maybe any answers. I am well aware that I can't do this alone.
So, I am asking our teaching staff to pray and to think and to share - and together with the power of the empty tomb - we will lead our children into the arms of Jesus. Please consider these things:
- WWW - What went well. Things in our children's education, children's worship, etc. that are going well.
- TALA - Take A Look At. Consider things we could improve to help our Children focus on Christ.
- Stepping Stones - Consider the parts and pieces that we have and will need to create, buy or "steal".
- God - Pray to God - beg God to give us wisdom and ask Him to show you the part you have to play in helping our children grow up in the Lord.
