Building The Faith

We are on a Journey of Faith. Loving people one step closer is about building faith in our hope. The book of Genesis rightly means “beginnings”. We humans have a deep need to know from whence we have come. Further, we need to know our purpose. There is something within us that craves significance – which can only be found in understanding our purpose. So much has been written and taught about finding our purpose. Also, we need to understand why things are so messed up. Every bit as much as we enjoy and expect the convenience of our achievements, we as much scratch our heads and wonder why things are so messed up. God in his infinite wisdom gave us Genesis which addresses those deep questions.
  • And all of it is understood by faith… “being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1). The Bible is remarkable in so many ways, not the least of which is how it leads us through the journey of faith. Many will reject that we got here by the hand of the Creator and defer to scientific empirical measurement. But, a careful look will demonstrate that these measures are at least as much by faith as what we hold from Scripture, if not far more. We can’t consider our origins without some kind of faith. Genesis gives us faith by showing us that we are here by the will and hand of God.
  • Connected to the question of how we got here, is what are we here to do. Those who believe humans are nothing more than advanced animals – inherently encourage humans to behave with the same moral code animals have – which is zero. Instead, there is something within us, something God given, I believe, that can’t make that make sense. Humans are not just advanced animals, God gave humans special existence and a special role. Genesis gives us faith by show us that not only did God create us, but he gave us our purpose – to obey Him.
  • The last question comes with great frequency… why is the world so messed up. How is it that the beautiful sunrise and sunsets can be the background for horrific chaos. Humanist suggest we haven’t evolved enough to eliminate the problems. However, Genesis rightly tells of the origin and cost of sin. That which separates us from God. Genesis tells of the chaos which results from varying from the will of God. Genesis gives us faith as it tells of the beginning and future of God’s work to redeem us, to buy us back.
I hope our studies in Genesis aren’t taken lightly. We have within our hands the story that changes lives. Are our children worth taking our time to do so? Will we allow the urgent things of our lives to overtake the more important faith foundations? Our urgencies are followed by more urgency, but building faith in our beginnings at the hand of God – is lifetime significant. Will we tolerate the arrogance of humanists to cast the gift of faith as a pitiful excuse for intelligence – with no challenge from us?
That’s why I want everyone to do mwLTC, by the way.
